March 2013

LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR
MARCH IS NUTRITION MONTH! On Wednesday, March 13, we welcome Melissa Halas-Liang, local Registered Dietician, to speak at our Parent Education Forum about cool ways to get children interested in eating healthy and trying new foods. She will talk about how to pack a healthy lunch or snack or put together a balanced dinner.  She will also be available for your questions.  A flyer with more information has been sent home via your child’s cubbie. I recommend that you sign up to attend this special event.  The sign up form is located on a bulletin board next to the parent board in the children’s courtyard.

Our teachers continue to introduce healthy eating habits in their curriculum.  We ask families to bring certain nutritional items for their snack days and limit cookies for special holidays and birthdays. In conjunction with March being Nutrition Month and our speaker, you will soon be receiving an e-mail from room parents in your child’s class letting you know about special cooking projects, gardening adventures, books,  and conversations pertaining to nutrition that will be occurring in your child’s class.

To help you in your summer planning, we are sending out the summer program application and information together with information about Vacation Bible School held the week after the school summer program is finished.  After reading the information, please let me know if you have any questions.  Those who sign up for the entire six-week period will be given priority in registration.  After that we will try to accommodate everyone on a “first come-first serve” basis week by week.

Our traditional “Fun with Bubbles” performance will be held on Thursday, March7. Thank you to those who generously contributed to our Christmas Wish List.

As we enjoy the beautiful spring weather and approach the Easter season, we realize we have much to be thankful for. I am thankful for the children and families that I have become acquainted with this year and in the years past.

Easter blessings to you all!
