WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL!
How fast have the last three months gone? The summer days are getting shorter, there is a gentle breeze in the air, and fall will be here before we know it! To make sure we are all as ready as possible for the start of a new school year, we wanted to send out this brief newsletter highlighting upcoming dates and reminders. In the last week, you should have received a packet from SMCC Nursery School that includes the following:

  • Teacher assignment
  • San Marino Community Church Kick-Off Announcement
  • Emergency and Medical Consent Form/Permanent File Card
  • Fall Orientation Coffee Reminder –>including the Fall Class Coffee schedule
  • A letter addressing staff training, emergency supplies information, and release procedures in the event of an emergency
  • Emergency Release Form
  • A letter addressing safety concerns and reminders for the upcoming school year
  • Transportation Release Form

All of these pieces of paper contain pertinent information for our school. Please read through them carefully. Fill out all forms completely. And, as always, if you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me with any questions. We are looking forward to a great year and having our classrooms filled once again with the squeals of delight coming from your precious little children.

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL – WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 12
Our first day of school is just around the corner. As a reminder, our children need to bring a few things on that first day.  Please be sure to send your children with the following:

  1. Emergency and Medical Consent Card – fill out BOTH sides
  2. Clothing: An extra set of clothing (including underwear and socks) is requested for each child. Each item should be clearly marked with the child’s name. It is important for children to wear washable play clothes and rubber-soled shoes (not boots, Mary-Janes, Crocs, or open-toed sandals) for nursery school.
  3. Snapshot: Please bring an informal photograph of your child for the teacher to include on a wall display in the classroom for the school year.
  4. Blue Emergency Release Form
  5. Yellow Transportation Release Form

NEW 3-YEAR OLDS
Our three-year olds are new to SMCC Nursery School.  To make the transition as smooth as possible, we have divided the class for the first day of school. If your child is attending a Monday/Wednesday/Friday program for 3-year olds, your first day of school is Wednesday, September 12. You will be assigned one of two “First Day Times” – 9:15am to 10:30am or 10:45am to 12:00pm.

If your child is attending a Tuesday/Thursday program, your first day will be Thursday, September 13. You will be assigned one of two “First Day Times” – 9:15am to 10:30am or 10:45am to 12:00pm.

Having a class of only 7 or 8 children on your first day makes the experience a little more comfortable and allows parents the time to separate from their children.
